Liar analysis

Language

The masthead of the magazine should be eye-catching and in a large font. It shouldn’t be more than five or six letters long or it won’t fit on the cover. Also in the case of a music magazine it should be relevant to the genre of music that the magazine covers. 

 The main image will be of a member of a band featuring heavily in the magazine.  It will be a head and shoulders shot of them and will be looking directly at the audience. Doing this creates a clear picture and makes it easy to tell whether a potential buyer will be interested in the magazine.

The magazine will have 3 house colours that shall be chosen out of colours that go well together. I will also consider colours that are associated with the genre of music in the magazine and colours that are in fashion around this time.

Either at the bottom of the cover or down the side I will include thumbnail pictures.  These will be of stories within the magazine. Alongside these thumbnails will be anchorage in the form of the titles of stories associated with them.

The main article will be an attention grabbing story relating to the main image. It will either be beside them or over their chest so we know it is meant to go along with the main image.  I will likely choose a story like the band is newly formed or is getting back together as these stories attract attention.

The barcode will be at the bottom right of the magazine and it will cost around £2.00. This is an average price for music magazines and even slightly less in some cases. I can justify this price because music magazines are often produced nationally so printing can be expensive.

Institution

The magazine will be published by a publisher who deals with this genre of music and is willing to print it nationally. This allows for a maximum amount of customers and the ability to compete with other magazines that cover the same genre.

Ideology

The magazine will show the best elements of the genre of music I choose. It will show bands through their highs and lows and show how good it makes their fans feel to hear them play. It will also represent bands as normal people behind the music so that fans can connect with them on a more personal level.

Audience

The target audience will depend on the genre. It will include those who like the genre and anyone who has a wide taste in music or wants to get into a new genre of music.

Representation

The magazine will show bands as people who love what they do and who love their fans. They will be shown as skilled and professional in music and passionate about playing.
